Computing

We follow the National Curriculum for Computing. Teachers prepare lessons using a range of resources linked to the whole school medium term plans.

Throughout the year, children receive one computing lesson per week. Generally, lessons are planned in half termly blocks with a specific focus for each block. In these lessons, the children have the opportunity to practise a range of skills. These include knowing how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming.  It also allows the opportunity for children to create programs.  In addition, computing ensures that the children become digitally literate. At the end of each half term, the children will have built on their skills to produce a final outcome.

Another vital part of the computing curriculum is linked to online safety. This is embedded throughout the computing curriculum to ensure that our children have a deep and thorough understanding of how to be safe and responsible online.

We want our children to leave Kenningtons Primary Academy with the skills to equip them in an increasingly technological world.
